Impulse free interconnection of dynamical systems

چکیده

In this paper we address the problem that impulses might occur when a to-be-controlled plant is connected to a suitable controller. In the behavioral literature this issue is dealt when studying the so-called ‘regular feedback interconnection’ (RFI) of the plant and the controller behaviors. We address the question of when a given controlled behavior meeting desired specifications can be obtained by RFI of the plant and some suitable controller. The paper presents an algorithm to construct a controller that yields the controlled behavior by RFI, if such a controller exists. We extend the results to the more general case when all the to-be-controlled variables might not be available for interconnection. We show that any disturbances in the plant continue to remain free in the controlled behavior if and only if the interconnection is an RFI. This is also equivalent to the well-posedness of an interconnection. This paper also makes concrete the intuitive relation between absence of inadmissibility of initial conditions and RFI. A door closing mechanism is analysed in relation to the results in this paper.

Eigenvalue Assignment Of Discrete-Time Linear Systems With State And Input Time-Delays

Time-delays are important components of many dynamical systems that describe coupling or interconnection between dynamics, propagation or transport phenomena, and heredity and competition in population dynamics. The stabilization with time delay in observation or control represents difficult mathematical challenges in the control of distributed parameter systems. It is well-known that the stabi...

Interconnection of Dirac Structures and Lagrange-Dirac Dynamical Systems

In the paper, we develop an idea of interconnection of Dirac structures and their associated LagrangeDirac dynamical systems. First, we briefly review the LagrangeDirac dynamical systems (namely, implicit Lagrangian systems) associated to induced Dirac structures. Second, we describe an idea of interconnection of Dirac structures; namely, we show how two distinct Lagrange-Dirac systems can be i...

Control by Interconnection and Passivity–Based Control of Physical Systems

As vividly illustrated by the quintessential Watt’s governor a natural procedure to modify the behavior of a dynamical system is to interconnect it with another dynamical system. Examples of this approach abound in modern high–performance practical applications and are proven to be very robust and reliable. These include, among many others, mechanical suspension and flapper systems, flotation d...

Input-to-state Stability of Impulsive Systems with Different Jump Maps

The paper introduces sufficient conditions for input-to-state stability (ISS) of a class of impulsive systems with jump maps that depend on time. Such systems can naturally represent an interconnection of several impulsive systems with different impulse time sequences. Using a concept of ISS-Lyapunov function for subsystems a small-gain type theorem equipped with a new dwell-time condition to v...

The Behavioral Approach to Modeling and Control of Dynamical Systems

The behavioral approach provides a mathematical framework for modeling, analysis, and synthesis of dynamical systems. The main difference from the classical view is that it does not the input/output partition as its starting point. In this setting, control is viewed as interconnection.
